About Medline’s Custom Pack Division
Surgical Pack assembly is the core of our business. We have 7 assembly sites worldwide including Australia; we have experienced tremendous growth and expansion in this market. Medline’s Surgical Procedure Packs and Supply Chain Solutions allow hospitals to run efficiently by eliminating process steps in purchasing, material handling, inventory and accounting.
Medline’s Complete Delivery System (CDS) program is a comprehensive, procedure specific bundling program for the operating theatre, that promotes clinical efficiency, reduces waste and helps hospitals better assess cost and profitability. The Clinical Consultant CDS is a member of the Sterile Procedure Tray (SPT) division and provides clinical leadership, support and consultation towards the preparation and implementation of CDS programs.

About The Role
We currently have an opportunity for a professional and enthusiastic individual to form part of our dynamic Marketing team as a Clinical Consultant. Reporting to the Business Development Manager Perioperative Supply, you will be responsible for supporting Medline’s CDS program in line with sales and marketing strategies for ANZ to ensure business objectives are achieved while participating actively in the team. In this role the candidate will be expected to understand the needs of a broad range of specialties within the theatre environment and be able to provide guidance to both the customer and the division on what each individual CDS program should consist of. The role will also hold accountability for cross-matching a wide range of components to identify clinical equivalence. This role will also provide back-up support for the Clinical Consultant ANZ when required.

To be successful you should fulfill most of the following requirements: 

  • Assist the Account Managers in pre-market CDS viability assessments for the development of new programs.
  • Customer interfacing activity with all healthcare professionals within the peri-operative environment and other healthcare facilities to keep abreast of any developments or changes in clinical practice.
  • An understanding of the Australian Public and Private hospital system and the key issues of the Medical Industry
  • Customer facing activity with operating theatre NUMs and senior nursing staff within the perioperative environment while preparing comprehensive CDS programs.
  • Provide support to the Product Management Team and Sales Operation Support (SOS) and advice on various activities – training, marketing collateral, literature and peer review, alignment of standards and clinical practice when required.
  • Provide clinical expertise to RAQA and other departments, specific to CDS as required. Develop and implement clinical training to the internal team (e.g. Account Managers, Customer Service and Production) to ensure appropriate knowledge about our products and clinical practice.
  • Experience in a CNS or NUM role, with a good understanding of materials management/purchasing and the management and administration of process and costs is highly desirable.
  • Existing relationships with various stakeholders within the hospital environment (Operating Theatres, Materials Management, Infection Control, CSSD, C Suite, etc) is highly desirable.

Registered Nursing qualification required.
To be successful in this position you will need a minimum of 3+ years of experience in the Peri-Operative environment across multiple specialties - preferably in an instrument scrub-nurse role. You will need a comprehensive understanding of custom packs and their clinical application. A commercial understanding of custom packs is highly desirable.
This position also involves a degree of data-entry and the use of complex Excel spread sheets. Comfort in this environment will add to your potential for success.
This position will require you to think on your feet, have excellent verbal and written communication skills with a logical manner and acute attention to detail, organisational and hands-on problem solving skills and intermediate Excel skills.
